About This Project
This interactive dashboard visualizes bicycle and micromobility usage patterns across Washington DC's road network. It combines observed counter data with predictive modeling to provide estimates for areas without counters, creating a comprehensive view of cycling activity throughout the city.
The dashboard is developed for the District Department of Transportation (DDOT) to help transportation planners understand when and where people are traveling by bicycle, which can inform better infrastructure planning decisions.
How to Use This Dashboard
1
Explore the Map
The main map shows DC's road network with color-coded bicycle volume predictions. Click on any street segment to view detailed information.
2
Filter the Data
Use the filter options at the top to focus on specific neighborhoods or counter types. The map will update to show only the selected data.
3
View Data Layers
Toggle different data layers in the "Data Layers" panel to view additional information like Census data or Network Metrics.
Key Features
Bike Volume Estimation
View estimated bicycle traffic across all road segments, even where no physical counters exist.
Counter Points
See locations of actual bicycle counting stations and their observed data.
Census Data Overlay
Explore relationships between demographics and bicycle usage patterns.
Network Metrics
Analyze the road network's connectivity and centrality characteristics.
